Collecting for Charitable Purposes

Shoe Boxes of Love Inc is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) which allows donors to claim donated funds and donations-in-kind, once a receipt has been issued by Shoe Boxes of Love Inc.

​

Shoe Boxes of Love Inc is also registered through the Office of the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner to collect funds and donations to use for charitable purposes. In accordance with the Collections for Charitable Purposes Act 1939 and the Code of Practice released by the Attorney-General's department (Code of Practice), volunteers that have been approved by Shoe Boxes of Love Inc to collect on their behalf will be wearing appropriate identification with Shoe Boxes of Love Inc branding endorsing that individual to collect funds.

Shoe Boxes of Love Inc is proud to work in collaboration with a range of organisations and collection points across Australia. Whilst we have every faith in these organisations, Shoe Boxes of Love Inc. cannot be held responsible for the final delivery or distribution of donated boxes that are not delivered directly to our office when staffed (280 Springhead Road, MT TORRENS) or distributed directly by the team from Shoe Boxes of Love Inc.

 

Quality Assurance

While every care is taken to ensure that donations are put through our strict standard quality checking procedures to ensure the highest quality of items, Shoe Boxes of Love Inc. cannot be held liable for any donations that are not officially quality checked and sealed by Shoe Boxes of Love Inc.

 

Distributions

Shoe Boxes of Love Inc partners with a number of other established and reputable charities and organisations for the distribution of donated shoe boxes of love to those most affected by Australian disasters. These organisations use their experience to ensure shoe boxes of love are given to those genuinely in need following a disaster.

Contact between donors and recipients

Shoe Boxes of Love Inc operates on the principles of altruism. That is, that donations are made purely for the benefit of the recipient.

Shoe Boxes of Love Inc ensures all letters from donors, including contact details, are left within each donated box so that recipients can, if they wish, respond to their donors. We have heard wonderful stories of friendships being developed by donors and recipients. However, shoe boxes of love are a gift to affected residents and Shoe Boxes of Love Inc cannot and will not take any responsibility, nor place any requirement on recipients to respond to donors.

Shoe Boxes of Love Inc is not responsible for delivering responses from recipients to donors. By donating to Shoe Boxes of Love Inc, donors accept the severity of the situation for many recipients who have lost their or experienced damage to their homes, belongings, pets and in some cases, family and/or friends, and therefore respect the decisions of those recipients who wish not to respond.

 

Events and Marketing

Shoe Boxes of Love Inc reserves the right to use photos from previous, current and future appeals, along with photos from previous, current and future events to market Shoe Boxes of Love Inc and its activities.
